The guardians were stunned at the sudden outburst from her, she hadn't spoken a word since entering the workshop.

"I think it is time for you to take oath," North said, taking a thick book that was handed to him by a yeti.

"Not so fast, Santa," A voice growled, saying the name with hatred. Black sand swirled around the globe and a tall, black figure appeared. "Not if I have anything to do with it."

Suddenly, he leapt off the globe and had a dagger to Adena's throat before the guardians could even blink.

"Pitch," Jack spat out the name while leveling his staff at the dark figure.

"Oh, I wouldn't do that if I were you, Frost. You see, Adena isn't like you pitiful spirits, she has power that not even she knows of. Best of all, she has potential. The potential of becoming dark, she not only represents the light of summer, but she also represents the destruction." Pitch said calmly, pushing the dagger into her throat, which caused a thin line of blood to appear.

"What are you talking about?" Bunnymund said, expertly spinning his boomerangs, clearly trying to intimidate him.

"Summer isn't just a time of light, oh no, it is a time of destruction. Ever heard of a hurricane? They're her creation, whether she realizes it or not. There is darkness in every season, and I intend to exploit it one way or another. Starting with her," Pitch glanced at Jack and smiled crookedly. A smile that caused Jack of all people to get a chill, "And you're next."

"Not if we have anything to say about it!" Tooth said, standing her ground.

"Oh and what are you going to do? Yell at me for not flossing?" He laughed, his voice seemed to come from nowhere and everywhere at the same time.

"Pitch.....You...won't....get away....with this!" Adena managed to gasp out while struggling in the stronger man's grasp.

"Oh, that is where you're wrong," He caressed her scarred cheek and she flinched away from his hand, "I've already gotten away with it." He dropped Adena and she fell onto the ground, gasping for air.

"Why don't you go see your little friends in Burgess, I'm sure they would love a visit." Pitch cackled, his nightmare sand beginning to spin around him.

"What did you do to Jamie?" Jack shouted, shooting a burst of ice from his staff, only to hit the globe because Pitch was already gone.

The guardians rushed over to Adena and helped her up. Bunnymund kept asking her if she was alright to which she repeatedly answered that she was fine.

"What did Pitch mean that there's darkness in every season?" Adena croaked out, her voice hoarse from the grasp that Pitch had had on her throat, "Are there other spirits like me and Jack?"

North ran a hand down his beard, thinking before answering, "There is chance that there might be spring and autumn spirit as well. We will have to ask Manny. In mean time, we need to see Jamie."

Adena glanced at Jack, she had a feeling that something bad had happened in the little town of Burgess, all because they had the misfortune of being close to the entrance of Pitch's lair.

Sandy pointed at Bunny and made the shape of a hole above his head. "Sandy is right, I think it might be faster to take tunnel." North said, glancing warily at Bunny.

Bunny smiled and tapped his rabbit foot on the ground, opening up a tunnel underneath the group.

"What happened here?" Tooth said, flying around the empty town.

"He didn't just take the kids," Adena whispered, peering into an empty shop window.

"Are you suggesting that he took the adults as well?" Bunny said, he was the only one that had heard Adena.

She glanced across the street at him, stunned that he had even heard her, "He didn't just take the kids." She spoke louder this time so that the guardians all turned and looked at her.

Jack frowned and flew in the direction of the suburbs, the others followed him. He stopped in front of Jamie's house.

All the lights were off and the whole street was as still as the grave, despite the fact that the ground was covered in freshly fallen snow, not of Jack's creation.

"It's true," Jack said silently, his voice was filled with sadness. Adena walked up behind him and hesitantly placed a hand on his shoulder, "We'll find him." Of all the guardians, Jack was the one who was most attached to Jamie, he was his first believer after all.

Jack nodded his head solemnly a placed a cold hand over Adena's warm one. They all stood there for a while, looking at the empty house until Jack dropped his hand and turned around to face Adena, "Where do we start?"

Adena raised an eyebrow in response, "You're asking me this? I met Pitch for the first time two months ago!"

"She's right, mate. This is outta' our hands!" Bunnymund said breaking his gaze from Jamie's house, he was worried about his little ankle biter.

"Why would Pitch want the adults?" Tooth voiced the one thing they were all thinking.

Adena paced back and forth, deep in thought until Bunny placed a hand on her shoulder, she looked up at him, "Please stop, love, you're stressing us all out."

"Sorry," Adena pushed back the strands of hair that had fallen out of her ponytail and sat down on the ground. She put her face in her hands. "Maybe it's because they were kids once to."

"Wait, you might be onto something," North said, beginning to pace as Adena had done moments ago.

"Are you suggesting that Pitch seeks to exploit childhood fears?" Tooth said, trying and failing to get North to calm down.

"Why wouldn't he?" Adena stood up and paced again, much to Bunny and Tooth's annoyance, "He's basically powered by fear, the more fear he creates-"

"The more powerful he gets." Jack finished. He glanced around at his fellow guardians, "Well, what are we waiting for?"
